Gather Together
Today you might have gathered together...
with friends and family...
around the dishes filled with good food...
You drank your fill as well...
Though you consumed so much food and drink...
it was still difficult to leave the table...
It took some self control to abandon the culinary delights...
Sometimes it would just be better if the table would leave you!
But then you would look at it forlornly...
and wish for its return...
Sometimes there is a price for all of our gluttony...
Disapproval and a curled lip...
a low growl...
a disdainful look...
There are still those of us who just don't get it...
Stubbornness...
Willfulness...
Hard-headed-ness...
or
clueless...
Sometimes the lesson has to be a bit harder...
Sometimes it leaves us with a slobbery head...
and sore neck...
and makes us yelp all the way home.
But we should still remain thankful...
for lessons learned...
for tough love...
for mother's concern...
and the sunshine's warmth.
We need to remember...
family is what matters...
